The 1:35 scale is less usual for helicopters and means a considerably larger model than the common aviation 1:48 — on the fuselage and in the cockpit there is room for detail that gets lost in smaller scales. Check the extent of the parts in the description on the box.
The AH-64 Apache is a twin-engine attack helicopter with a tandem cockpit: the gunner sits at the front and the pilot behind and above him. You can recognize the D version by the fire control radar in its flat spherical housing above the head of the main rotor, and it was exactly that which gave the version the Longbow byname. The main armament consists of a movable 30 mm cannon under the forward part of the fuselage and racks on the stub wings, on which anti-armor guided missiles and pods of unguided rockets are hung. The landing gear is fixed, with a tailwheel.
With a helicopter the order of work decides the outcome. First finish and paint the cockpit, and only then close the fuselage — afterwards you can no longer get inside. Mask the glazing and spray in thin coats so that the frames stay crisp. Leave the rotor head, the antennas and the sensor tubes right until the end, as they break off easily during handling. Seat the landing gear so that the model stands firmly and does not rock. Cover the whole surface with a primer, apply the decals over a gloss base and pick out the panel lines with a flowing paint. At the end unify the surface with matte varnish and use a fine pigment to suggest settled dust around the exhausts and the landing gear — machines of this type tend to be dirty from use in exactly those places.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
