3D decals for the AH-64E cockpit 1:35, small version

The set belongs to the line of color decals printed on decal paper with three-dimensional relief. The small version has a narrower extent than the full version; the technology and the gluing procedure are the same. It is an accessory, and the helicopter model itself has to be bought separately.

Why the right set matters with the E version

The AH-64E Guardian is the upgraded form of the Apache with a digital cockpit, where large multifunction displays take the place of rows of round dials. The older AH-64A, by contrast, has an analog panel. The decal set copies the layout of the particular version, so the parts for the analog and the glass cockpit are not interchangeable, not even between forms from the same kit manufacturer. Before buying, therefore, check which version of the Apache you have in the box.

Working with the decal step by step

• Level the molded relief of the instruments on the plastic; the base should be smooth.
• Spray the part with a dark color, so that it does not show through along the edges.
• Soak the decal briefly, let it rest on the paper and then slide it into place. Do not add a decal softener to the water, as it would attack the printed resin of the decal.
• Squeeze the water out with a cotton swab from the center; no air may be left under the printed surface.
• Leave the displays glossy; matte varnish over the whole area would rob them of depth.
