A detail set of miniature weapons in 1:35 scale. According to the name it holds six pieces of the shortened assault rifle known as the AKSU. It is not a kit and not a figure, but an accessory for figure scenes, crew equipment and vehicle interiors. Weapons from detail sets tend to be considerably crisper than the plastic parts from mass-produced kits, because they are cast separately and do not have to respect the direction in which a mold opens.
AKSU is the commonly used designation of the shortened version of the AK-74 assault rifle. It was created as a compact weapon for vehicle crews, artillerymen, paratroopers and units that need the firepower of an assault rifle in the size of a submachine gun. You will recognize it at a glance by the very short barrel, the bulky muzzle device and the folding shoulder stock. It has seen action since the 1980s, when it appeared in Afghanistan, and thanks to its compact size it is still carried by special forces and police units today.
The parts are small, so separate them with a sharp scalpel and leave a bit of the sprue on the weapon as a handle for painting. Wash the surface and spray a thin primer on it before applying the paint. Set the metal parts and the grip apart in tone, pick the recesses out with a dark shade and run a dry brush lightly along the edges. The folding stock is the most delicate spot on the whole weapon, so protect it while handling the part.
