This kit from Copper State Models captures an armored escort vehicle. British and Irish service is stated in the name, so the model aims at a subject that is covered only rarely. The brand has long devoted itself to equipment and figures of the First World War and the years just after it.
Armored tenders accompanied units of armored cars. They carried crews, ammunition, fuel and spare parts, and their armor was meant to shield the crew from small arms fire rather than from artillery. The combination of a civilian chassis and a simply welded body was typical of such vehicles. In the 1920s they appeared in Ireland, where they served on patrol and escort duty.
Dry-assemble the armored body so that you can see how the edges meet, and only then fix it in place. Finish the inside of the hull and the seats before you close it up, because the open apertures give a view inside afterwards. A uniform dark green area comes alive with highlighting of the upper edges and fine dust around the wheel arches, which emphasizes the shape of the fenders.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; you choose the colors according to your own reference.
