The second part of the Star Decals Vietnam theme leaves the tanks behind and is devoted to tracked carriers. According to the name it covers the Australian M113A1 and the M125A1 mortar carrier in 1:35 scale. It is a marking set, that is an accessory to a model the builder obtains separately.
The M113 family was an entirely different chapter in Vietnam from the tanks. The light aluminum carrier took a squad of infantry, got through soft terrain and shallow water and went practically everywhere tracked hardware could reach at all. The Australian units used it for moving infantry, for escorts and for reconnaissance, and the machine stayed with them considerably longer than the phase of the conflict the first part of the line covers. The M125A1 version is a variant of the same carrier with a mortar worked from the rear compartment through an opening roof, so it gives a unit fire support of its own without having to tow a gun.
The sides of the M113 are large flat areas, which is ideal for decals. Watch the transitions over the riveted strips, the trim vane and the covers of the air channels: there a softener and gentle pressing with a cotton swab will help, so that the design follows the edges without a kink.
