The photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:35 scale is prepared for the Italeri kit of the Italian armored car. You are buying an accessory, not a model. Armored cars are a rewarding theme for photo-etch: the cooling grilles, the flanges of the fenders, the loops, the hinges of the hatches and the equipment brackets make up most of the visual impression of a car, and in plastic they are necessarily thicker than reality calls for.
The Autoblinda AB 41 was an Italian armored car with all-wheel drive, a rotating turret and two driving positions, thanks to which it could reverse as fast as it went forward. It was committed to reconnaissance and patrol duty, among other places in North Africa and in the Balkans, where its range and speed outweighed its weak armor. For a modeler it is a fairly compact vehicle with a pronounced shape of hull, on which every added detail is plainly visible.
Anneal long photo-etched strips, such as the flanges of the fenders, over their whole length and bend them gradually over a rounded edge, so that a smooth curve arises without kinks. Glue the grilles on only after the area beneath them has been painted, or you will not reach under them. Apply super glue in minimal doses with a piece of wire, because a surplus goes white on photo-etch and can no longer be hidden. For the North African form build the paint up in layers: the base, a slight lightening of the middles of the areas, a thin brown filter and finally dust pigment into the seams and onto the lower parts. The vehicle then makes a parched impression, not a muddy one.
The set completes a kit; it is not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
