Eduard 1:35 Bell AH-1G early SPACE is a set of colored 3D decals for the cockpit of the early production version of the AH-1G attack helicopter in 1:35 scale. It is an accessory to a model, not a model of a helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard joins two worlds. It carries a raised relief like a resin accessory, but it is lifted off with tweezers and stuck on, that is without the need to paint anything. The colors and the labels of the instruments are printed straight onto the decal, so even a modeler who does not dare paint small dials gets a cockpit that, once dry, looks like carefully shaded work by hand. This set is intended for the early production version of the Bell AH-1G attack helicopter in 1:35 scale and is fitted into a plastic model under construction.
The Bell AH-1G HueyCobra was the first series-produced attack helicopter in the world. It came about very quickly out of the proven UH-1 Huey machine, with which it shared the engine and the dynamic system, but it was given a completely new fuselage only a little over a meter wide with the crew seated one behind the other, the gunner at the front and the pilot higher up at the rear. It is precisely in the narrow fuselage that the whole magic of the Cobra lies, because from a head-on view it offered hostile fire a minimal target. The machines deployed in Vietnam carried machine guns and grenade launchers in a rotating turret under the nose and pods of unguided rockets on the stub wings. The designation early refers to the early production form, which differed from the later machines in the details of the equipment of the cockpit.
First even the surfaces the decal is going onto out with a gloss varnish, as on a matte surface microbubbles would form under the decal. With a sponge with a drop of dish soap moisten only the backing paper, lift the element off with tweezers and seat it in PVA glue. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. Once it has dried perfectly, spray the cockpit over with a matte varnish, which makes the decal fall in with the surrounding surface. You will make the work easier for yourself by fitting the panels before the fuselage is closed up.
