This item is not a kit but a resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT. It represents the layer of concrete that crews and field workshops added to the front of the superstructure of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun. The part is fitted to a model already built in 1:35 scale and solves a shape that is hard and uneven to build up from putty: the surface of the concrete is cast complete with irregularities and traces of formwork.
Adding concrete to frontal surfaces was one of the improvised modifications carried out away from the factories in the last phase of the Second World War. The concrete was poured into wooden formwork or into a frame of steel rods welded to the armor, or applied over wire mesh. The layer was irregular and its practical benefit was questionable, but in shape it is very characteristic and well documented on period photographs of individual machines. Every example therefore looks a little different.
The accessory is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because it is resin; level the mating surface beforehand and try the part dry, so that you know where material has to come off. We recommend leaving the seam between the concrete and the armor visible rather than smoothing it; in reality it was not clean either. In color, concrete stays in light gray to gray-beige shades; never use pure white. The best impression comes from a light base shade, a very thin dark wash into the recesses over it and finally a dry brush in a lighter tone on the edges. Dust and mud from pigments then tie the concrete in with the rest of the hull.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is not a complete vehicle model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
