A set of Star Decals markings in 1:35 scale for the vehicles of the British Guards Armoured Division. The name gives the combination of the divisional sign and AoS markings.
The division came about in 1941, when Guards regiments with a long infantry tradition switched to tanks. It entered the fighting in Normandy, where it took part in a large armored operation south of Caen. In September 1944 its columns had a share in the rapid advance through Belgium and in the liberation of Brussels, whereupon they set out along the corridor to the bridges over the great Dutch rivers. The division finished the war on German soil. Its vehicles thus bring together two situations rewarding for a modeler: a rapid move by road and slow gnawing through narrow Dutch dikes.
Vehicles after long moves were coated in dust from the underside upward, whereas the surfaces around the sign stayed washed clean and legible. Proceed in layers, then: gloss base, markings, matte varnish and only at the end the dust from below. It is also worth considering how much stowage you add to a model, because the Guards crews carried gear on their tanks, which can cover part of the surfaces.
The set is intended for a finished model. A vehicle, paints and varnishes are not in the package.
