1:35 British Marinesplus Argentine soldier big set

The set

This set is interesting in that it does not put only one side into the box. Alongside the Royal Marines there is also an Argentine soldier, so the figures can be built into a scene of an encounter rather than just a group of soldiers on the march. In extent it is a larger set, which gives freedom both in placing the figures and in splitting them between two separate scenes.

How to build the scene

An encounter between two sides lives on distance and on gazes. Place the figures so that an open space is left between them for the viewer to look into; one figure can be aiming, another raising his hands, another simply looking on from one side. In 1:35 scale an adult figure measures about five centimeters, so the scene is easy to complete with a vehicle, crates or a piece of terrain in the same scale. A low base with a stony surface and low growth is enough to hold the scene together.

Building and painting tips

Cut any excess material away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade, sand the remainder and wash and degrease the surface before painting. Join the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, which holds on ordinary modeling materials. Tell the two sides apart by shade and by degree of grime rather than by colorful variety: one group can be darker and wetter, the other drier and lighter. Paint the faces and hands in thin glazes, unify the equipment with a dark wash and finish the whole with a matte varnish.

Who it is for

The set will suit diorama builders who want to tell a story in a scene, and modelers of modern military hardware in 1:35 scale who are missing a human figure for the display case. Thanks to its greater extent it will even stretch to two smaller compositions.

Paints, glue and the other material needed to finish it are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
