The subject is a British tank crewman; according to the name the item belongs to a range that refers to the fighting in Normandy, and the number after it distinguishes the individual figures within that range. The 1:35 scale is the most widespread one for ground vehicles, and an adult figure in it stands about five centimeters tall. At that size you can make out the cut of the clothing, the equipment and the posture, so the figure stands up to close inspection and does not remain just a patch of color beside the vehicle.
A vehicle on its own in a display case will not reveal how big it was. But as soon as you place a person beside it, the scale falls into place at once: from the height of the figure at the side of the hull even a layman can tell what they are looking at. A crew also brings a story into a static scene. A figure leaning on a fender or climbing out of a hatch turns the model into a tableau without your having to build a whole diorama.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest carefully, so that the edges of the clothing are preserved. Dry-fit the shoulder and head joints and watch the angle at which the figure is looking; a small deviation changes the whole effect. A suitable glue is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Apply the paint in thin coats, build the transitions gradually and leave the face until last, when you already have the overall tone settled. Check the shades of the equipment against the pictorial reference you choose for the tableau.
