Cardboard boxes for drinks

A set of cardboard drinks boxes in 1:35 scale from Matho Models. It is a typical diorama accessory: unremarkable on its own, except that it is exactly such small things that turn a scene into a place where something is happening rather than a mere stand under a model.

Where it is useful

The boxes work anywhere things are carried and stacked. In the bed of a truck, by a field kitchen, on a warehouse dock, in the corner of a derelict building or at a checkpoint. Supply belongs to a military and a civilian setting just as naturally as vehicles do, yet it appears on dioramas only rarely. With this the set gives the scene both scale and a reason why the figures are standing exactly where they stand.

Usage tips

• Do not stack the boxes into perfectly aligned piles; vary their angle and their height.
• Stand a few pieces aside or askew, because perfect order looks uninhabited.
• Pick out the edges lightly in a darker shade, as cardboard wears exactly there.
• Near the ground add a layer of dust and damp, since the bottom row is usually the dirtiest.
• The manufacturer's instructions give the suitable glue and the assembly procedure.

What the delivery contains

This is a diorama accessory. The model, the figures, the base, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. How you arrange them in the scene is up to you, and individual pieces also serve on their own as a small filler between vehicles and figures.
