About product

Eduard 1:35 CH-54A seatbelts STEEL photo-etched belts

A stand-alone photo-etched set of seat belts for the seats of a model of the CH-54A helicopter in 1:35 scale. The designation STEEL means that the photo-etched parts are steel, not brass. Steel sheet behaves differently: it can be bent into a soft sag, it holds the shape and does not spring back flat, so the belts on a seat look like fabric and not like tin. An empty seat with belts thrown loosely over it is one of the details that everyone notices first on a model.

It is an accessory, not a kit. The model the belts are fitted to is sold separately.

The real subject

The Sikorsky CH-54A Tarhe is an American heavy helicopter of the flying crane concept. The cabin is glazed over a large area and, besides the two pilots, it has room for a crew member sitting facing aft who watches the slung load. The interior is therefore well visible on a finished model, and the seats with their belts are among the things that can be made out from outside.

How to fit the belts

Nip the parts out with a sharp scalpel and clean up the remains of the gates. Bend the steel photo-etched parts in your fingers over a rounded tool, for example the handle of a scalpel or a round file — the aim is an irregular, soft sag, not a sharp crease. Bond the belts with super glue in a tiny amount; excess is hard to remove from a fine part. The order of work that proves itself is to fit the belts only after the seat and the interior are painted, then adjust the position at the end and, if need be, add a trace of dirt.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers who want convincing belts in the cabin instead of plastic ones or none at all
  • Builders who value photo-etched steel for shaping into a sag
  • Those who build the CH-54A in 1:35 scale with an open view into the cabin
  • Those after a quick improvement that calls for no extensive work on the model

The set is an accessory for a model. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Photo-etched steel holds its shape once bent, so a belt can be arranged into a soft sag that does not spring back flat.

Check the number of belts on the packaging or in the manufacturer's instructions.

Best only after the seats and the interior are painted, just before the cabin is closed.

It is not, it is an accessory. The CH-54A model in 1:35 scale has to be bought separately.
