An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chevrolet FAT-4 field artillery tractor in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models. The model is supplied as an unassembled set of plastic parts, and according to the manufacturer a small photo-etched fret and decals for the markings of the vehicle are included as well. The body with its characteristic closed box and the typical front grille of the CMP vehicles forms a striking whole that in a diorama is completed by towed artillery and its crew.
The abbreviation CMP stands for Canadian Military Pattern, that is, the class of military trucks built during the Second World War in Canada to British specifications for the armies of the Commonwealth. Most of them were built by the Canadian divisions of the Chevrolet and Ford car makers and the total production reached hundreds of thousands of examples. The field artillery tractor, designated Field Artillery Tractor, was a specialized variant with a closed box body. It carried the gun crew, ammunition and tools and towed an artillery trailer with ammunition as well as the gun itself. Vehicles of this type served on practically every battlefield where British and friendly units operated.
Finish and paint the chassis, the engine compartment and the interior of the cab before you close the body. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the small photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a filler primer before painting, which unifies the surface and brings out mistakes in the filling. The base shade is applied best with an airbrush, after which a darker wash in the pressings and the joints and a dry brush on the edges help. You will create dust and mud on the wheels and the wheel arches with pigments; on a tractor deployed in rough country weathering is in place.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
