A kit of the Dingo 2 armored vehicle in its reconnaissance form with optoelectronic equipment, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the German army found itself after 2000 on missions where the greatest danger was not a tank but a charge beside the road, it needed a vehicle of another kind. The answer was the Dingo: a V-shaped armored cab set on the proven chassis of a truck, that is a machine which protects the crew and can still be repaired with ordinary means.
The second generation enlarged the vehicle and offered a range of superstructures. The reconnaissance version stands out among them: it carries observation equipment with optoelectronic sensors, thanks to which the crew can watch the surroundings at a great distance without having to leave the protected space. The vehicle then works not as a combat asset but as the eyes of a unit.
Basing it on the chassis of an ordinary cross-country truck meanwhile turned out to be a clever move. Spare parts are available, drivers know them and the machine can be maintained even in conditions where a more complex design would mean trouble.
1:35 scale is the most usual choice for modern armor and the finished model has a respectable size. A tall, square body with a minimum of rounded surfaces forgives fewer mistakes in filling, but it carries color transitions and dust superbly: a dry brush on the edges and a fine application of pigment on the underside will work wonders with the result.
It pays to plan the build so that the observation equipment is fitted only after the hull has been varnished; otherwise it is hard to reach while masking. Paints and glue are obtained separately.
