It is not a model of equipment: these are elements which are added to a finished scene to give it a sense of scale, action and credibility. Small objects work differently in a diorama from the main model, as a viewer does not take them in one by one, but it is precisely they that decide whether a scene looks lived in or like an empty display case.
Do not scatter small accessories evenly. Irregular clustering is more convincing: a little group by a wall, one piece off to the side, the rest of the area free. Watch where people in the scene would move and place the objects where they would put them down or forget them. Try the layout dry first and glue only once the composition works as a whole. Small parts are fixed well with a drop of super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick, so that the glue does not run over the surroundings.
Clean the parts up, remove the casting remains and wash them in lukewarm soapy water before painting. With very small elements it is practical to paint them while they are still attached to the casting remnant, while there is something to hold them by. Apply a thin base, then the base shades, and once dry bring the shapes out with a flowing wash; on small things a single pass is enough, as heavy weathering would swamp the shape. Unify the accessories with the surroundings by dusting the same pigment over them that you used on the terrain; without that they look stuck on from somewhere else. Finally fix it all with matte varnish and bring the sheen back only where it is functionally justified. Between the layers always leave enough time for drying through.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue, a base and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
