This item is not a model of a truck but a set of replacement wheels in resin. The crucial thing about it is the detail in brackets: these are wheels with a road, that is a commercial, tread pattern and not an off-road one. On German trucks the tread patterns differed between suppliers, and modelers commonly use them to anchor a build to a particular vehicle and period. The choice of pattern is therefore not cosmetic but distinguishing.
The Einheitsdiesel was a German standardized heavy truck with all-wheel drive, developed in the 1930s as a single type for a whole range of purpose-built bodies. It is precisely because of that standardization that many versions of the same chassis exist and models often differ only in details, among which the tires belong. A road tread pattern matches vehicles operated mainly on paved roads and is clearly different from a coarse off-road tread.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap. Cut the casting block off in the mating surface of the wheel, where it will not show once sanded, and level the cut on abrasive paper on a flat board. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Adjust the hub opening with a drill if needed, so that the wheel goes onto the pin without strain. Paint the tires dark gray rather than black, and once dry go over them with a light dry brush in a lighter tone, which pulls out the tread pattern. Deal with the rim according to the scheme of the vehicle. Lay the dust mainly on the sidewalls of the tire and in the lower part of the disc, while leaving the crown of the tread clean, as the vehicle runs on it.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
