The upper hull of the Elefant tank destroyer with a canvas cover in 1:35 scale changes the whole upper silhouette of a model of the German heavy machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement upper hull of the German heavy Elefant tank destroyer, and that in the form where the fighting compartment is drawn over with a canvas cover. It is a prominent structural part that transforms the upper silhouette of the whole model, not a small detail to be glued on. A kit of the vehicle is not included in the package.
The Elefant was a rebuilt form of a heavy tank destroyer that came about on the chassis of an unsuccessful Porsche heavy tank project. It carried a long 88 mm gun in a fixed superstructure and belonged among the heaviest fighting vehicles of its time. The frontal armor withstood most of the anti-tank weapons of the day, whereas mobility and the reliability of the drive stayed a weak point. It entered the fighting in 1943 in the east, and the last machines saw out their service in Italy.
The canvas cover is the main theme here: fabric holds more light than steel and the edges of the folds can be beautifully picked out with a dry brush. Lay the base down in the shade of the canvas, let a darker glaze into the folds and then lighten the peaks slightly. Verify the joint of the part to the lower hull dry and fill any gap before you start with the paint. The tied ends and the ropes deserve a different shade than the fabric itself.
