The family of Israeli Spike guided missiles from the firm Rafael is worked up in this package as a plastic add-on set. AFV Club has included several executions of the missile in the new mold, from the short through the medium and long range to a newer variant, so various carriers can be fitted according to the scene you are building.

A weapon that watches the target itself

The designation fire and forget says the essential thing: the gunner sights the target, launches and can move away at once, because the seeker head goes on doing its own work. That is exactly what sets the Spike apart from the older wire-guided systems, with which the operator had to follow the target right up to the hit. The weapon has made its way into a number of armies, and in German service it carries the designation MELLS.

Working with small parts

The body of the missile and the container have smooth surfaces on which every trace of the parting line shows, so it pays to sand them down before gluing. The lettering on the containers tends to be prominent, which is why it makes sense to apply it onto a gloss base. The launcher then looks convincing when it stays clean and only discreetly dusted.
