Garford-Putilov rear driver control post is a detail set of the rear control post of the Garford-Putilov armored car in 1:35 scale from Copper State Models, made by 3D printing from resin.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of 3D-printed resin parts will add the rear driver's station to a model of the Garford-Putilov armored car. The 2023 release follows on from the kits of the Garford from the production of Copper State Models and refines an area that the basic kit captures only in its basic shapes. The set itself does not replace the vehicle.
By the standards of its era the Garford-Putilov was an exceptionally heavy and unwieldy machine, and turning it around on a narrow front-line road was practically out of the question. The designers solved it in their own way: the vehicle was given a second control post facing to the rear. The second driver could take the armored car out of fire at full speed in the opposite direction at any moment, without the colossus having to turn around. This rarity fascinates everyone interested in early armored cars to this day, and on a model it is a rewarding theme to tell a story with.
Remove the print supports by nipping them off further from the part and take the remainder down with a small file, as the fine elements are fragile. A lukewarm bath with detergent is enough for degreasing; avoid hot water, as the thin parts could warp. Fix the assembly with spot drops of cyanoacrylate and set the mechanisms apart with metallic shades and a dark patina.
