A 1:35 terrain base on the subject of the German A7V tank is intended for setting a machine of the First World War into the rutted soil of the Western Front in a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
A piece of Black Dog scenic production that follows up the subject of the first German tank of the close of the First World War. It is a base for a display case, not a kit of a fighting machine: you build the vehicle itself from a plastic kit and only then seat it on the terrain. The scale given in the name matches the most widespread format of ground hardware.
The Sturmpanzerwagen A7V was the German answer to the British tracked machines that appeared on the Somme in 1916. It reached production only at the very close of the conflict and no more than a few dozen examples were made. A tall boxy hull, a numerous crew and poor mobility over soft ground made it a machine that is spoken of to this day more as a technical curiosity than as a successful weapon.
The churned-up field of the late war will take richer earth tones than city buildings. A base in dark brown has proved itself, with an ocher layer sprayed over it and finally pigments rubbed into the hollows with a brush. Fill the ruts left by the tracks with a glossy gel that imitates standing water. Add grass and remnants of vegetation sparingly, so that they do not overpower the main model.
The base is sold in a raw state, so the paints and the surface effects are up to the modeler.
