Figures of German Afrikakorps soldiers of the Second World War in 1:35 scale, modeled at the moment of a break for a meal. Suitable for a quiet scene with no combat action.
Responsibility details are not available.
Deutsches Afrikakorps was the designation of the German units committed in North Africa during the Second World War. They served in different conditions from the units in Europe: in tropical uniform, with sun, dust and a constant shortage of water. That is exactly why scenes from the African battlefield are recognizable at a glance and tend to be popular with builders of dioramas.
Figures of soldiers in 1:35 scale caught in a break for a meal. These are therefore not combat poses but a group sitting and eating together; the stances are relaxed and follow on from one another, so the figures are built as one scene rather than as separate pieces. The exact number of figures and their arrangement are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Before gluing, cut the surplus material and the marks from production away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the rest down level. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue and first set the whole group out dry on a surface, so that the lines of sight and the distances between the figures work. Wash the figures before painting, degrease them and go over them with a primer. A tropical uniform faded toward light quickly, so start from a sand tone, add a darker wash into the folds and lighten the highest places of the cloth gently. Leave the faces and hands for the end, they are done with a different technique from textile.
For builders of dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale with a North African subject who are looking for a quiet scene beside their hardware. A model of a vehicle, groundwork, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
