About product

German E-100 Super Heavy Tank 1:35 (Trumpeter)

An injection-molded plastic kit of a super-heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The E-100 was one of the heaviest German projects of the close of the Second World War, and the model captures it in its intended combat form with a massive turret and a large-caliber gun. The package holds parts in gray plastic, a one-piece turret made by slide-mold technology, photo-etched sheet and tracks for the running gear.

The real subject

The E-100 belonged to the German Entwicklung (E) series, which was to unify and simplify the production of armored vehicles through standardized components. At a weight in the order of 140 tons it was to be the heavier counterpart of the Maus, protected by exceptionally thick armor and armed with a large-caliber gun in a turret derived from the Maus. Because of its giant weight it would have depended on a special transport solution and its mobility would have stayed limited. By the end of the war only the chassis of the prototype had been brought near completion; the machine never reached series production or combat service.

Building and painting tips

Finish the running gear and the lower tub, which are harder to reach later, before closing the hull. The one-piece turret made by slide-mold technology makes the build easier and calls for no filling of parting seams. We recommend a primer, an airbrush and thin cement for plastic; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Tonal transitions, washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud suit the broad areas of armor excellently; the edges and projections can be brought to life with gentle paint chipping and dry-brushing.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of German project and prototype tanks
  • Lovers of super-heavy equipment and the alternative history of weapons
  • More advanced beginners as well as experienced modelers

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

A German super-heavy tank of the Entwicklung series weighing around 140 tons, a heavier counterpart of the Maus. By the end of the war only a nearly finished prototype chassis had been built; it was never in production or in combat.

A real, nearly finished prototype chassis was built. The model captures its intended combat form with the turret and the gun as they were planned.

Yes, the turret is made as a single part by slide-mold technology, which simplifies the build and does away with filling the seams.
