This set of decals from the Star Decals brand in 1:35 scale brings the markings of the German PzKpfw IV medium tanks in the Ausf G and H versions as they served in Italy. It is not a kit or plastic parts but the markings alone, intended for a model of the vehicle that is already built and painted.
The fighting on the Apennine Peninsula dragged on from the summer of 1943 to the spring of 1945, and the PzKpfw IV was the most numerous German tank in it. The Ausf G version carried the long 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun and in the later series the Schürzen side skirts as well, while the Ausf H version had the skirts as standard, a stronger front plate on the hull and reworked final drives. The Italian terrain with its mountain roads and parched soil left its mark on the vehicles quickly, so the markings tended to be partly clogged with dust.
Apply the markings onto a smooth gloss base, so that the edge of the carrier film is not visible on the surface. On versions with side skirts, lay out in advance what will go on the hull and what on the skirts, because the skirts cover a large part of the side and the division can no longer be changed once they are fitted. Once it has dried, coat the area with a matte varnish and only then build up the dust deposits and the washes. Always proceed according to the manufacturer's directions on the packaging.
