A set of six German five-liter oil cans of the Second World War in 1:35 scale from the maker Hauler. An accessory for the cargo areas of vehicles and for dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains six miniatures of German five-liter oil cans of the Second World War in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a vehicle but an accessory with which the load on fenders and cargo beds, workshop scenes and still lifes in a diorama are fitted out.
Small sheet-metal containers for engine oil were part of the ordinary equipment of vehicles and of field workshops. On a model they serve a double purpose. They fill the empty areas of cargo spaces, which otherwise look unnaturally tidy, and at the same time they give a scene its scale, because from a familiar object the eye at once judges the size of the surrounding hardware. Six pieces in the package are enough to be spread over several places on one model or to furnish a smaller diorama.
It is practical to paint tiny parts stuck to a stick with double-sided tape, and they can be restuck later. A proven process: primer, base shade, a dark wash into the recesses and corners, and finally a drybrush and spot chipping on the edges. Oil cans will take marked wear — greasy traces around the neck and runs down the side look convincing and in 1:35 scale they are clearly legible. Choose matte paints, as glossy surfaces look out of place here.
The set is an accessory, not a model. It is supplied unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
