1:35 Hause ruin wall base

The real subject

Demolished houses are among the most frequent backdrops of combat scenes, whether the subject is the Second World War or more recent conflicts. This diorama base in 1:35 scale renders the remains of the wall of a house together with a piece of terrain beneath it. It thus lets you build a city scene without having to build a whole building and work out how to set it into a board.

What the set contains

The package consists of the base with the masonry and is supplied without a surface finish. It reckons with being finished according to your own intention, so you decide yourself how old and how damaged the plaster will be and how much rubble stays around the wall. Figures and hardware are not included, but room for them is prepared on the base.

Building and painting tips

Before painting, wash the base in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry thoroughly; the paint then holds considerably better. An overall base in the shade of the plaster, a darker glaze into the joints and light drybrushing of the edges, which draws out the texture of the brick and the crumbled plaster, have proved themselves. Add the rubble, the dust and the small debris with modeling grit and pigments. Finally cover the transition between the base and the board with sand or static grass, so that the scene does not end in a sharp edge.

Who it is for

It suits anyone who wants to place a figure or a vehicle in a setting without taking on an extensive diorama. It will serve equally well as a base for a display case, where a model is to stand on something more striking than a bare board. The package holds no paints, pigments, glue, figures or model, unless stated otherwise.
