A plastic kit of the German light tank destroyer Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer from Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The model captures the low, steeply sloped hull on the proven Czechoslovak chassis and belongs to the well buildable production of Tamiya. The kit is intended to be glued and painted.
The Hetzer was a compact tank destroyer built on the chassis of the Czechoslovak 38(t) tank. It entered service from 1944 and was marked by a low silhouette, sloped frontal armor about 60 mm thick and a gun of 7.5 cm caliber. Over two thousand machines were built; after the war they served with the Czechoslovak and Swiss armies as well. Its small size and sloped armor made the Hetzer an inconspicuous machine that was harder to hit and suited defensive fighting, but the crew inside was left with very little room.
Assemble the running gear before the hull is closed and do not forget the correct seating of the tracks. Use a thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush - with late German vehicles a dark yellow base with camouflage in green and brown works well. The sloped surfaces come into their own after gentle lightening and after bringing out the edges with a drybrush; you will complete the dust and mud on the running gear with a dark wash and pigments. Well chosen camouflage and weathering underline the compact shape of the machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
