An engine set for a model of the German Horch medium off-road car in the Kfz 15 version in 1:35 scale. It completes the space under the hood on a kit already obtained and by itself forms no model.

The Horch as a staff and signals car

Horch supplied the Wehrmacht with the chassis of a medium off-road car, on which a whole family of purpose-built versions came about. The Kfz 15 was among the most widespread of them: it carried staff officers, served in signals tasks and was seen from Poland to North Africa. The open body with a canvas roof and massive fenders, all-wheel drive and an eight-cylinder engine under a long hood made it a vehicle that managed terrain as well as long moves by road.

The uncovered space under the hood

The side covers of the hood on this vehicle fold out to the sides, so the unit can be shown without cutting into the plastic. Check in advance, however, whether the particular kit allows it, or else separate the covers with a cut along the engraved division. Seat the parts in place before you close the front part of the body. In painting it helps to go from a dark base to lighter areas with a final bringing out of the small elements, so that they are not lost under the hood. A light gloss on the metal parts will give the space depth.
