An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer AFV Club. It is a set of two Israeli quarter-ton 4x4 jeeps: the Siyur reconnaissance vehicle (based on the M38A1 / CJ-5) and the Tolar vehicle with a recoilless rifle for fire support. The release is a limited one, with new tooling for some of the parts. The package usually contains photo-etched parts (a radio, a radiator grille guard) and decals for period Israeli forms. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) made abundant use of light jeeps derived from the American Willys M38A1. The Siyur reconnaissance version served for patrolling and reconnaissance, while the Tolar vehicle carried a recoilless rifle and provided mobile fire support. These vehicles are associated above all with the period of the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War, when they formed mobile and versatile elements of the Israeli units.
Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement. The open structure of the jeeps exposes the frame, the engine and the interior; finish and paint them before final assembly. Glue the fine photo-etched parts (the grille guard, the radio) with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the vehicles over a primer in a uniform Israeli shade and bring them to life with washes, wear and dust pigments; the two vehicles work together splendidly in one desert scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
