The Type 98 Shi-Ke was a Japanese tracked artillery tractor of around four tons capacity, developed at the end of the 1930s. It served the Imperial Japanese Army to tow guns and to carry their crews and ammunition over ground where wheeled vehicles would not have coped. Its running gear drew on Japanese tank designs of the day. Tractors of this type belonged to the less well-known but important rear-area and artillery vehicles of the Japanese army of the Second World War.
On a tracked tractor, assemble and paint the running gear and the underside of the vehicle before you fit the bed and the superstructure. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting and spray the period Japanese shade with an airbrush in thin coats. Pick out the engraving and the wooden boarding of the bed with a wash and a dry brush, and apply dust and mud pigments to the running gear and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
