A resin figure in 1:35 scale from Copper State Models. The figure is modeled in motion — at the moment of climbing into the vehicle, that is, with one leg stepping up and the body leaning forward. A pose like that is strong in a scene but also more demanding: the figure makes no sense on its own and needs a vehicle, or at least a step, to lean on. The uniform matches the First World War period.
The parts are cast in resin. Before building, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the remains of mold release agent disappear. Cut the casting blocks off with a thin saw or a cutting disc at a distance from the part and level the cut with a file; sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic will not join resin. With a figure in motion, dry-fitting is the key: stand it against the model before you glue the arms and legs on and make sure it rests on a real point on the vehicle. Any overlap or gap is adjusted at this stage, not once the glue has set.
Spray a primer coat; it is essential with resin. Build the uniform up in coats; with the body leaning, the folds of the cloth are stretched differently from those on a standing figure, so the shadow belongs more in the creases on the back and behind the knee. Paint the face separately in good light. Add light weathering to the boots and the lower part of the trousers, so that the figure belongs visually to the ground it stands on. Finally, fix the figure in the position you have tried out and only then work on the transition between the sole and the base. The exact number of parts and the height of the figure are stated on the packaging.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
