A photo-etched set from Eduard in 1:35 scale bringing the Schürzen side armor skirts and their hangers for a model of the German Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer with the L/48 gun. The thin metal skirts look more faithful than plastic ones and allow a realistic rendering of damage. It is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model.

The real subject

The Jagdpanzer IV was a German tank destroyer on the Panzer IV chassis with a sloped armored superstructure. The version with the 75 mm L/48 gun served to destroy enemy tanks from covered positions. The Schürzen side skirts protected the sides of the vehicle against shaped-charge and anti-tank ammunition.

Use and building tips

Separate the skirts and hangers on a cutting surface and form the bends with a bending tool. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Missing or damaged skirts are easy to render thanks to the malleable metal. Degrease the surfaces and apply a primer before painting.
