A plastic kit of the JSU-152 (the Soviet heavy self-propelled gun) in 1:35 scale from Tamiya — the feared Zveroboy of the Second World War with its massive 152 mm howitzer.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet JSU-152 heavy self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale from the Japanese firm Tamiya. The box contains the hull parts, transparent sections, a photo-etched engine screen, tow cables, crew figures and optional tracks. The model faithfully captures the characteristic boxy superstructure with its massive gun.
The JSU-152 was built on the proven chassis of the Soviet IS (JS) series heavy tank and carried the powerful 152 mm ML-20S howitzer-gun in a fixed armored superstructure. It officially entered combat in the summer of 1944 during Operation Bagration. For its ability to destroy even the heavy German Tiger and Panther tanks it earned the nickname Zveroboy, the beast slayer. The heavy weapon served for direct fire support, for breaking through fortifications and for fighting enemy armored vehicles.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling cement for styrene. On a self-propelled gun, assemble and paint the running gear before finishing the hull. Bring out the cast texture of the mantlet and the hull front with a dry brush and a wash. Apply the base coat with an airbrush over a primer, and then put the decals and the weathering onto the typical Russian green — washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects. Choose the optional tracks according to the building method you prefer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
