A decal set in 1:35 scale from Star Decals with markings of the New Zealand 19th Armoured Regiment in the Italian theater. The name gives Sherman tanks and reconnaissance armored cars. It is an accessory to a model, not a kit.
The New Zealand division went through the Italian campaign from 1943 to the end of the war in Europe, and the 19th Armoured Regiment was one of its striking components. The fighting was waged in mountainous country laced with rivers, where the tanks often advanced along narrow roads and worked with the infantry at close range. The British system of markings, which the New Zealanders took over, combined the arm of service square, the formation sign and the vehicle name. It is exactly the names and the tactical numbers that make models of this unit a rewarding theme. Besides Shermans, light reconnaissance armored cars also served with the regiment.
British and related markings spread over the whole vehicle, that is onto the bow, the fenders, the turret and the rear, so it is good to lay the arrangement out dry first. The sloping glacis plate of the Sherman and the cast gun shield call for a setting solution; on the smooth hull sides a gloss base is enough. The Italian countryside offers dusty as well as muddy weathering, so apply the decals before you start work with pigments.
The package holds only decals. The model, the paints and the varnishes are not included.
