The real subject

Shermans remained the main armored mainstay of the US Marine Corps after the Second World War too, and in Korea they did a job they were never built for: supporting the infantry in hilly terrain and in close combat. The sheet keeps to three different machines. The M4A3 with a 105 mm howitzer served for firing at fortified targets, the version with a dozer blade leveled roads and cleared obstacles, and the flame-thrower Sherman was deployed against bunkers and trenches. The third machine carried the nickname Porcupine.

What the sheet covers

The markings aim at particular vehicles, that is at the lettering, the names of the machines and the tactical signs by which the individual tanks differed from each other. The printing is in 1:35 scale, that is for the most common size of kits of ground hardware.

Building and painting tips

Apply the markings onto cured paint covered with gloss varnish, otherwise air will stay trapped under the elements and the edges will start to silver. Separate the elements with a sharp blade close to the print. Check the application procedure in the instructions enclosed with the sheet and use a decal softener only where the instructions allow it. Place the lettering according to photographs of the real subject before you dust the model with pigments; wear and mud go on only over dried and varnished markings.

The set is for modelers who build American hardware of the Korean War and want to match a model to a particular machine, not just to a unit in general. This is a decal sheet; the kit of the vehicle, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
