A photo-etched brass set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard meant for detailing a model of the Soviet KV-2 heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the tank but a set of fine etched parts that replace or complete the coarser plastic features of a base kit and raise its realism.
The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank of the early Second World War, conspicuous for its tall boxy turret, into which a 152 mm howitzer was fitted. It came about on the chassis of the KV-1 heavy tank and was meant for destroying fortifications; because of its weight and large silhouette it was a machine that was hard to handle.
The etched parts are separated with a sharp knife, shaped with a bending tool or a ruler and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Thin parts such as the fenders, the tool clamps and the grilles look markedly more faithful in photo-etch than in plastic. Before painting, degrease the surface and coat it with a primer.
This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
