An automatic washing machine is part of the ordinary equipment of a home, a laundry and a company support area. In a diorama it works as a small thing that gives a scene time and place: a square cabinet with the round window of the door and a control panel is legible at first glance, and from it a viewer can tell that this is a living or working interior, not an empty backdrop.
It comes into its own in scenes with an exposed interior, in a wrecked house, in a cellar, in a garage, in a workshop or in the support area of a repair shop. It also serves well as an object in the second plane, which fills an empty corner of a base while not drawing attention away from the main model. Because it is civilian equipment, it will carry a scene from various periods and settings.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let it dry out properly; paint holds considerably better on a degreased surface. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the surface of the part and carefully sand the rest back with fine abrasive paper. Choose the glue according to the material of the part; on materials other than polystyrene ordinary polystyrene cement is unsuitable and cyanoacrylate glue will serve more reliably, with the particular procedure given in the manufacturer's instructions. White enamel looks believable only when it does not stay completely clean: a thin gray patina in the transitions, a hint of wear on the edges and around the door and a discreet tinge of dust on the top surface will turn a white cabinet into an object somebody has used.
Paints, glue, a base and the other equipment of a scene are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
