Injection-molded plastic kit of the British light off-road vehicle Land Rover 88 Series IIA in its crane and recovery form, in 1:35 scale from AK Interactive. The model captures the short wheelbase version (88 inch wheelbase) with a frame crane jib on the open bed used for recovery and towing. The kit is richly detailed: it contains photo-etched parts, rubber tires, a well-worked interior and engine and offers a choice of right-hand or left-hand drive. Check the exact contents of the box and the markings against the manufacturer's information for this item.
The Land Rover Series IIA was the improved variant of the second generation of the famous British off-road vehicle, built in the 1960s. It was offered with a short (88 inch) and a long (109 inch) wheelbase. Recovery and crane conversions with a Harvey Frost type jib served in civilian and military settings to recover and tow damaged or broken-down vehicles.
Paint and highlight the well-worked interior and engine bay before you close them up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched pieces with cyanoacrylate glue; assemble the crane jib carefully so that it keeps its geometry. The finish suits a wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and pigments for the service dirt, grease and dust that match the working life of the vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
