This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard serves to refine and complete the exterior details of a plastic model of the M113A1 carrier in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a set of photo-etched parts with which you replace the coarser plastic parts with finer metal ones. The package typically contains an etched sheet with parts such as handles, grilles, tie-down items, holders for equipment and other exterior details.
The M113 is an American tracked armored personnel carrier of an aluminum armor alloy, one of the most widespread fighting vehicles of its day. In the M113A1 version with a diesel engine it was used on a mass scale during the Vietnam War, where it often received add-on armor and improvised protection for the crew. The large folding rear ramp and the machine gun positions are characteristic.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a backing, bend them in a bending tool or with a ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal parts before painting. The fine photo-etched items raise the realism of a model markedly; apply the weathering, the washes and the pigments only once it is assembled.
This is a supplementary photo-etched set, not a model of the vehicle. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
