About product

The American M1 Bazooka rocket launcher in 1:35 scale

An accessory set for modelers who build American figures and vehicles in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle but a separate casting of the weapon, fitted beside a figure, laid on a fender or in the bed of a vehicle, or made part of the equipment in a diorama. A small weapon tends to be dealt with in simplified form in figure kits, so a separate casting far exceeds a part from a split mold in detail.

The real subject

The Bazooka was an American anti-tank weapon introduced in 1942, made up of an open tube from which a rocket was launched. The M1 version was the first form introduced; it was later joined by the modified M1A1 and M9 models, differing in the construction of the tube, the sight and the electrical firing. The weapon became a common item of equipment in American units, which is why you see it in period scenes both in the hands of infantry and stowed on vehicles. For a model that means it suits a large share of scenes with American vehicles.

Building and painting tips

The casting is small, so work with tweezers over a light surface. Wash the set in warm soapy water first, otherwise the paint will not hold on the resin. Cut the casting block off with a new blade or a fine saw and true the pad up with a file. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) in the tiniest drops. In painting, a dark base and a light accentuation of the edges with a dry brush help; darken the mouth of the tube so that it reads as empty, because that is what gives a small part its depth. Put the weapon in place only once the figure or the vehicle has been painted.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of American Second World War vehicles and figures in 1:35
  • Makers of dioramas where equipment is in the foreground
  • Modelers unhappy with the simplified weapon from a kit
  • More experienced builders used to working with small resin castings

The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted, and glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

Check the number of pieces on the box. What is certain is the 1:35 scale and the type of weapon.

The M1 is the first form of the weapon introduced, the M1A1 a later modified version. The manufacturer makes both as separate items; choose according to the period you are building.

Yes, it is a separate casting with no tie to a particular kit. What matters is that the 1:35 scale matches.
