This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the American military utility truck M1008 with a tarpaulin over the bed in 1:35 scale from AK Interactive. The kit contains a photo-etched part, masks for the windows, a tarpaulin for the load bed and decals for several marking options, with a detailed chassis and cab interior.
The M1008 is the cargo version of the American family of light utility vehicles of the CUCV program, derived from the civilian Chevrolet C/K range. The vehicles were built in large numbers in the 1980s and served with the US Army, the Navy and the National Guard to carry troops and materiel. A robust and easily maintained design based on a production civilian pickup made them versatile and reliable workhorses that served for years in all kinds of roles.
Assemble and paint the chassis and the cab interior before they are closed up, while the parts are accessible; the front wheels can be built turned for a livelier pose. Glue the plastic with thin cement, mask the windows carefully with the enclosed masks and spray the kit over a primer. Detail the tarpaulin separately and fit it only once the bed is painted. Finish the patina with washes in the recesses and the seams, dust pigments on the chassis and the fenders and fine paint chipping on the edges for the impression of working wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
