The M1078 and the M1083 belong to the family of American medium tactical trucks that replaced older cargo vehicles from the 1990s onward. The M1078 is the lighter version with a two-and-a-half-ton payload, the M1083 is a five-ton cargo truck with a longer frame. Both vehicles have the same glazed cab set above the front axle, so the interior is clearly visible on a finished model and empty seats with a smooth instrument panel give the work away.
The set brings colored printed interior elements in 1:35 scale with a raised surface. The instrument panel, the side panels, the seats and the small controls thus gain the relief and the color that are hard to achieve by hand painting in this scale. The elements are printed on backing decal paper: they are dipped briefly in lukewarm water and slid off the paper into place, but no softener is used on them.
First spray the surfaces under the elements with a base color, let them dry completely and give them a coat of gloss varnish, because the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds best on gloss. Cut out the individual parts with a sharp blade, dip them in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide them off the backing paper into place. Press them down with a cotton swab, work in stages from the center to the edges on curved walls and help a broken shape with a drop of super glue. Finish the interior before you close the cab.
The set suits modelers who want the inside of the cab to be legible without laborious painting of small details. The package contains only the interior elements; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
