An injection molded plastic kit from the Chinese maker Takom in 1:35 scale. According to its name it makes it possible to build both the early and the late version of the M114 light tracked vehicle and it holds an interior, that is the fittings of the fighting compartment, which are visible through open hatches. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The M114 was an American light tracked vehicle for reconnaissance and command, introduced in the 1960s. The hull was welded from aluminum alloy, which gave the vehicle a low weight, good mobility and the ability to cross water obstacles, but only limited toughness. The vehicle had a small silhouette and was to accompany reconnaissance units; experience in service, however, revealed the limits of the design and the type was later replaced. Early and late machines differed in the form of the commander's station and of the armament.
Before you close the hull up, decide which version you are building and check which parts apply to it; a mixed variant is spotted at first glance. Paint, age and dry-brush the interior before you cover it with the top plate, as once it is glued you will no longer reach it. Finish the running gear, including the aging, before the tracks go on. On the outside use a primer, then the base shade brightened on the horizontal faces. The aluminum hull got dirty quickly in the field, so it pays to work with a dust filter, staining around the hatches and mud in the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
