An injection-molded plastic kit of the US Army main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. The set is designed as a 2 in 1, so following the enclosed instructions you can build either the M1A1 or the M1A2 version. The equipment includes an elaborate full interior with the power pack, photo-etched parts and individually assembled track links. It is a demanding project intended for more experienced modelers.
The Abrams is an American main battle tank introduced into service in the 1980s. The M1A1 version brought a heavier 120 mm gun and thicker armor, while the later M1A2 added modernized electronics and command systems. The tank combines a powerful gas turbine drive, composite armor and a modern fire control system, and it became the backbone of the armored units of a number of armies.
First assemble and paint the interior and the power pack, and only then close up the hull, so that the details stay visible. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and glue the fine photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply the base coat with an airbrush over a primer; the final weathering is created with washes and pigments that bring out the dust and mud effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
