This is not a model of a tank but an extensive detail accessory. The set brings a powerpack for a model of the American M1A2 Abrams tank in 1:35 scale and is intended for modelers who want to display the vehicle with the rear open or with the engine pulled out beside the machine.
The M1A2 is driven not by a piston engine but by a gas turbine coupled with the transmission into one removable block. That is pulled out of the vehicle whole from the rear, which is something modelers like to show: a turbine has an entirely different shape from a classic cylinder block, as it is compact, wrapped in ducting and covers and dominated by a large air intake. That is precisely why an open engine deck has a greater effect on this vehicle than on most other tanks. In the base kit there tends to be nothing under the deck.
Count on the main block being held in the mold by massive casting blocks. Cut them off with a saw with the part secured in a vise with soft jaws, not held in the hand, because resin is hard and a saw likes to jump. Level the gate remnants, but do not over-sand the surfaces that are meant to seat against each other. Wash the whole set free of the release agent before building. It is glued solely with cyanoacrylate glue: use a gel on the load-bearing joints of large surfaces and a thin variant applied with the tip of a wire on small ducting. It is practical to paint the assembly in sub-groups before gluing them together, as once assembled you will not get into the space between the units. Try the engine compartment in the hull dry and find out in good time how much plastic has to come out inside so that the deck will close.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
