1:35 Medieval gate No. 2 from Black Dog is a diorama item with the motif of a medieval gate, the second worked-up version of this subject.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Black Dog brand offers a medieval gate as a diorama item of its own for 1:35 scale. The designation of a second version suggests that this is a different treatment of a subject already released, so both forms can stand side by side in a collection without resembling each other.
A stone gate is not tied to one period. It comes into its own with figures of the age of knights, but it serves just as well as a background for later displays set in an old city center, where medieval fortifications have remained standing to this day. It is also popular in fantasy work, where historical accuracy is not expected of a modeler but atmosphere is.
The key is not to mix all the blocks into a single shade. Apply a mid gray base and then retone the individual stones at random toward warmer and cooler registers. A dark shade into the joints follows, which is removed from the faces once dry, so that it stays only in the shadows. Hint at moss and lichen very sparingly, exclusively on the north side and in places where moisture would gather. Finally even the whole thing out with a fine dusting.
Figures and painting materials are not sent with this diorama item.
