Pre-colored 3D interior decals for the Mi-8MT in 1:35 scale

This is a decal set, not a kit and not a resin accessory. The pre-colored printed 3D decals are intended for the interior of the Mi-8MT helicopter in 1:35 scale: they are applied to the corresponding surfaces of the kit and replace flat details that are only hinted at by engraving with legible colored artwork. The name designates the item as the smaller variant of the set, Small version; a full version of the same set for the same type also exists. Check the material, the number of parts and the scope of the set on the box. The dimensions and shapes are based on the Trumpeter kit.

The real subject

The Mi-8 is a twin-engine transport helicopter from the Mil design bureau, one of the most widespread machines in its category. The Mi-8MT version has more powerful engines and in the export configuration it was sold under the designation Mi-17. The cockpit and the cargo compartment are clearly visible on a model through the glazing and the side doors, so a detailed interior shows in the result.

Use

• Paint the surface under the decal and give it a coat of gloss varnish; the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on the gloss, and over a flat surface a silvery film will appear as well.
• Cut the part out close to the edge and soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds, until it can be slid off the backing paper.
• Slide the decal into place, adjust the position with a damp brush and blot up the excess water with a cloth.
• Do not use a decal softener or setter; their chemistry will attack the printed resin and destroy the element. On uneven surfaces a drop of super glue helps.
• Once dry, blend the surface with a flat or semi-flat clear coat according to the look you want for the interior.

Who the set is for

For modelers who want a well-drawn cockpit without painting instruments by hand, and for those who find photo-etched sets tedious. Even a less experienced builder will manage it; all that matters is patience and a clean gloss surface. The set is cut for a particular kit of that type, so make sure before buying that you have the corresponding model.

The set does not contain the helicopter model, paints or gloss varnish; it is an add-on to a separately sold kit.
