A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Russian MiG-35 multirole fighter. It fills a model out with metal elements in a real thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mikoyan MiG-35 is a Russian twin-engine multirole fighter that follows on from the proven MiG-29 design line. On the outside it keeps its recognizable silhouette with a pair of vertical tails and the blended transition from wing to fuselage, but inside it is a considerably more modern machine. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject, because it offers strong shapes and clean surfaces.
The set brings photo-etched metal parts for a MiG-35 model in 1:48 scale, that is, in the usual scale for aircraft modeling. Photo-etch is made by etching an outline out of thin sheet, which gives it a real thickness even where a plastic part would have to be markedly thicker for technical reasons. The elements are held on the carrier sheet by thin tabs.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and put them down straight away, so that the small elements are not lost. Make the bend along the marked line in a bender or between two blades, ideally in a single movement. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest of quantities, otherwise the glue wicks and clogs the fine relief.
Degrease the metal surface before painting and spray it with a primer. Try the fit dry first, because once the cyanoacrylate has set the part will not move.
The set belongs to a modeler who has experience of photo-etch and wants to take a modern fighter beyond the contents of the box. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
