A brass photo-etched set from Voyager Model in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of the tank but a pack of thin brass parts aimed at the slat (cage) armor for the modern American M1A2 tank in the TUSK fit. The photo-etched version offers faithful, thin bars, which are hard to achieve in plastic. The set is intended for the Dragon 3536 kit.
The M1A2 Abrams is a modern American main battle tank. The TUSK (Tank Urban Survival Kit) adds equipment for fighting in built-up areas. The slat armor is mounted at a standoff from the hull and the turret and serves to set off or disrupt shaped-charge projectiles before they strike the main armor.
Separate the brass parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat and shape them carefully according to the instructions. Take care that the bars stay square and parallel, so that the cage looks convincing. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and apply a base coat suitable for metal before painting.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
