A photo-etched brass set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard meant for detailing a model of the German self-propelled heavy mortar Karl-Gerät, usually designated Mörser Karl, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but a set of fine etched parts that replace or complete the coarser plastic features of a base kit and raise its fidelity.
The Karl-Gerät was an exceptionally heavy German self-propelled siege mortar of the period of the Second World War. Its massive weapon of large caliber was meant for destroying heavily fortified targets and bunkers; for its weight and dimensions the vehicle ranks among the heaviest self-propelled weapons of that day.
The etched parts are separated with a sharp knife, shaped with a bending tool and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Given the extent of the subject it pays to proceed one assembly at a time and, before painting, to degrease the surface and coat it with a primer.
This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
